MEGHAN LEWIS MACLEOD

Meghan Lewis MacLeod is a contemporary, mixed media painter inspired by innovation through spontaneity and is continually influenced by dynamic symbolism, natural cycles, and expressions of the archetypal psyche. The design emphasis of her paintings is intended to evoke a confluence of contemplative reprieve, renewal, and personal insight. Artwork of Hilma af Klint, Helen Frankenthaller, and Judy Chicago amuse her with endless metavisual inspiration.

Meghan’s formal art education at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, centered transpersonal art and psychology which led to her doctoral specializations in perinatal mental health and ecofeminist art therapy at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, Palo Alto, CA. She is the founding Director of the LGBTQ Perinatal Wellness Center and maintains a creative arts-based therapy practice offering counseling and consultation for clients in the family formation process and for artists alike.

Meghan facilitates the National Women’s Caucus for Art LGBTQ+ member meetings, as well is a member of the SF City Art Cooperative Gallery and the SF Women Artists Gallery. Her work has been featured in Bay Area West Elm showrooms, juried into exhibits at CAMi Art + Wine Gallery, (Calistoga), Charles Krug Winery, (St. Helena), Voss Gallery, (SF), Arc Gallery & Studios, (SF), 111 Minna, (SF), O’Hanlon Center for the Arts, (Mill Valley), Marin Society of Artists, (San Rafael), Women Made Gallery, (Chicago) among many others. Additionally, her work is commissioned by private collectors across the country and is held in private collections internationally.
